Context
NeŠkola (Vysočina region) prioritized applicants’ reasoning skills over grades. To replace a conventional written exam, they collaborated with Bohemia Interactive to craft a gamified test that evaluates logic and analytic abilities in an engaging, culturally rooted environment.
Challenge
NeŠkola believes true problem-solving matters more than memorizing facts. However, traditional written tests often feel stale, stress-inducing, and fail to reveal how candidates think in real time.

We created a 3D reconstruction of the pilgrimage Church of St. John of Nepomuk at Zelená Hora to embed local heritage, foster intrinsic motivation, and frame puzzles within a meaningful narrative. Our test scenario tracks predefined logical competencies and repeatedly assesses them through multiple modalities to ensure the most informative results. Developed in consultation with psychologists at Mise Hero , the system measures both problem‐solving skills and personal responsibility, distinguishing between candidates who engage randomly and those who remain truly focused on the task.

Once the player has overcome all the outdoor challenges, they finally enter the church. Inside, they'll find a carefully restored historical interior. After taking a moment to look around, the player can start tackling new challenges to move the story forward.

Using anonymized unique user IDs, the game logs choices and puzzle times without collecting personal data. Bohemia provides SQL tables exclusively to NeŠkola team, ensuring candidates stay anonymous while the school gains insights into their logical and analytical reasoning.

Results were impressive: less test anxiety, more enjoyment, and clear behavioral data for staff. Minimal tech issues confirmed the smooth setup worked. Bohemia Interactive plans to develop more digital tools with other regions to effectively replace traditional tests—making assessment fairer and more engaging.
